Shri M Ramachandrudu IAS (Bihar 2009), presently on Central Deputation and posted as Director – Census Operations, Bihar, MHA, a Deputy Secretary Equivalent position, is promoted and appointed as Director – Census Operations, Bihar, Office of Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, Ministry of Home Affairs, a Joint Secretary level position at Level 14 of the Pay Matrix, on Central Deputation basis for a tenure upto 31.12.2025, by temporarily upgrading the post from Director level to Joint Secretary level.

Beginning his civil service journey with training in August 2009, Shri Ramachandrudu quickly progressed to hands-on administrative roles. His first field assignment as Assistant Collector & Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Khagaria (June 2010 – August 2011) provided him with valuable experience in land revenue management and district administration.
In August 2012, he was appointed as Deputy Development Commissioner & CEO, Zila Parishad, Rohtas, initially in a Junior Scale role, before being elevated to Under Secretary level in January 2013. In this position, he played a crucial role in strengthening local self-government and implementing grassroots development initiatives.
Shri Ramachandrudu’s expertise in district administration was further highlighted when he took charge as District Collector & District Magistrate, Samastipur (June 2014 – December 2015), where he effectively led governance, revenue management, and public service delivery. Following this, he transitioned to the education sector, serving as Director, Primary Education, Bihar (December 2015 – April 2018), where he made significant contributions to policy implementation and education reform.
From April 2018, he took on the role of Additional Secretary, Disaster Management, Bihar, overseeing crucial disaster response strategies, risk mitigation programs, and emergency preparedness initiatives. His leadership in this domain reinforced his ability to handle high-pressure situations and drive efficient crisis management policies.
Recognizing his administrative excellence, he was appointed as Director, Census Operations, Bihar, under the Ministry of Home Affairs (August 2022 – March 2025) at the Deputy Secretary level, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing the extensive census activities in the state. His outstanding performance in this role led to a well-earned promotion to Director, Census Operations, Bihar, Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, at the Joint Secretary level in March 2025.
