Shri Kumar Amit IAS (Punjab 2010), presently Special Principal Secretary to the Punjab CM, with additional charge of Special Secretary, Food Processing, and, Managing Director, Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Ltd, is relieved of all the existing additional charges and given additional charge of Director – The Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (MARKFED), relieving Shri Girish Dayalan IAS.

The Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd. (MARKFED), established in 1954, is one of Asia’s largest cooperative marketing federations. It began modestly with 13 members, three employees, and a capital of ₹54,000. As of the 2022–23 fiscal year, MARKFED achieved an annual turnover exceeding ₹22,883 crore.

MARKFED operates through 22 district offices, over 100 branch offices in mandi towns, and six processing and trading units. It has expanded its membership to 3,051 societies, representing a significant portion of Punjab’s farming community. The organization employs over 2,700 individuals.

The federation’s operations include the production and distribution of agrochemicals, cattle feed, canned foods, vanaspati oil, and processed basmati rice. It markets a wide array of food products under the SOHNA brand. It supplies approximately 65% of the state’s fertilizer requirements on behalf of the government.
