Shri Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal presently Additional Judge of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, to be an Additional Judge of that High Court for a period of one year w.e.f. 03.06.2024.
Mr. Nargal hails from Katra, Jammu & Kashmir and did his initial schooling from Dewan Badri Nath Vidya Mandir, Jammu. He pursued graduation from GGM Science College, Jammu and LLB from the University of Jammu, following which he independently started his active practice from March 1991. He was designated as a Senior Advocate by J&K High Court on 03.12.2020 and has formerly served as Senior Additional Advocate General of the J&K Home Department.
He holds the distinction of serving as the Standing Counsel for various departments of Government of India as well as the J&K Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Banks, Universities in addition to his own private practice, spanning over an illustrious legal practice of 31 years. He has served as the Standing Counsel for University of Jammu, SKAUST-J, Baba Ghulam Shah University, Rajouri, Cluster University, Jammu.
Furthermore, he has remained as a Senior Counsel for Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Union Public Service Commission, Food Corporation of India, J&K Public Service Commission, Service Selection Board, Sales Tax & Exercise Department, JK IMPA, General Administration Department and State Pollution Control Board. Mr. Nargal has also served as Central Government Counsel, Counsel for J&K Education Department on terms and conditions as Additional Advocate General. He holds expertise in taxation, service, academic, arbitration and civil matters and other writ jurisdiction.
He was recommended for elevation as a Judge of the High Court by J&K High Court Collegium and appointed as Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, vide Notification No.K-13021/02/2017-US.II dated 1st June 2022 and took oath of office on 3rd of June, 2022.
