Smt. Justice Lapita Banerji presently Additional Judge Punjab & Haryana High Court has been appointed as a Permanent Judge of Punjab & Haryana High Court.
Justice Lapita Banerji has completed CBSE from Ashok Hall Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Kolkata (1990) and ‘A’ Levels (GCE Advanced Levels) from Calcutta International School (1993) with Grade A in Law. Graduated from the University of Leeds with a Bachelor of Law (LLB) (1996). Called to the bar of England and Wales by the Hon’ble Society of Lincoln’s Inn (1997)
Justice Lapita Banerji enrolled as an Advocate, Bar Council of West Bengal (1998). From 1998 to 2022, engaged in independent practice in Civil, Constitutional, Company, Admiralty and Family law, as well as Arbitration (as counsel and arbitrator) and Mediation, appearing primarily before the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta and tribunals (including the National Company Law Tribunal and the Debt Recovery Tribunal).
Sworn in as an Additional Judge of the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta on 9th June, 2022 and was transferred to the High Court of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh with effect from 8th November, 2023.
