Shri Justice D Krishnakumar presently Judge- Madras High Court has been appointed as  Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur .

Justice D. Krishnakumar, a distinguished legal luminary, was born to Thiru. A.P. Deivasigamani and the late Tmt. Saraswathi in Dharapuram on May 22, 1963. He completed his schooling at the Government Higher Secondary School in Dharapuram before pursuing his B.Sc. degree at Presidency College, Chennai, and his B.L. degree at Madras Law College. After enrolling as an advocate in 1987, he began his esteemed career under the mentorship of Mr. K. Duraiswamy, Senior Advocate in the Madras High Court.

Justice Krishnakumar’s exemplary legal career is marked by his dedicated service in various pivotal roles. He served as Government Advocate at the Madras High Court from 1991 to 1996 and later as Additional Central Government Standing Counsel in 1998-99. His exceptional legal acumen was further recognized when he became Special Government Pleader from 2001 to 2006, and Standing Counsel for the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, as well as numerous Municipalities, including the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, the Indira Gandhi National Open University, and other significant government undertakings.

He also held the position of Special Government Pleader (Education) from 2013 until his elevation to the bench. With a vast and diverse practice in Civil, Criminal, and Writ jurisdiction in the High Court, Justice Krishnakumar’s career is a testament to his deep commitment to justice and the law. His outstanding contributions culminated in his appointment as a Permanent Judge of the High Court of Madras on April 7, 2016.
