Dr Manoj Soni assumed the role of Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission by taking the Oath of Office and Secrecy today. The oath was administered by Smt. Smita Nagaraj, the most senior Member of the Commission.
Dr Manoj Soni initially joined the Commission as a Member on June 28, 2017, and subsequently, under Article 316 (A) of the Constitution of India, he was appointed to serve as the Chairman of the UPSC starting from April 5, 2022.
Before joining the UPSC, Dr Manoj Soni pursued his studies in Political Science with a specialization in International Relations Studies. He obtained a doctorate in “Post-Cold War International Systemic Transition and Indo-US Relations” from Sardar Patel University. He has served as Vice-Chancellor for three terms, one at M.S. University of Baroda and two at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University in Gujarat. Notably, he holds the distinction of being the youngest Vice-Chancellor in independent India. Dr Soni has received numerous awards and accolades and has published extensively in his field.
