CSIR-IGIB (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology) and KAMP (Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform) recently celebrated a significant milestone during the “One Week One Lab” event, attended by more than 1100 students from grades 5 to 12 participating in the KAMP program.

As part of the celebration, a captivating Scientific Excursion was organized at CSIR-IGIB campuses on Mathura Road and Mall Road. Dr. Souvik Maiti, Director of CSIR-IGIB, welcomed the students and encouraged them to explore the world of science. During the event, a cutting-edge laboratory called the “Ramanujan-Hardy Lab” was inaugurated at the CSIR-IGIB Mathura Road campus. This lab aims to nurture unconventional thinkers and innovators among school students.

Students had the opportunity to gain insights into laboratory work, scientific instruments, and various CSIR-IGIB facilities, including the Zebrafish facility and electron microscopy. They also attended a popular science talk titled “The Plant Perspective” by Dr. P. V. Shivaprasad from the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS).

The Scientific Excursion aimed to ignite students’ curiosity and passion for science through live demonstrations and hands-on experiences. Ms. Arika Mathur, Head of Operations and Assessments at KAMP, introduced the KAMP initiative and encouraged students to be curious and seek answers.

CSIR-IGIB focuses on biological research, while KAMP aims to foster creativity and critical thinking skills in students.
