Smt Anju Sharma IAS (Gujarat 1991 ) has been empanelled as Additional Secretary at the Centre.

Smt. Anju Sharma has recently been empanelled for appointment as Additional Secretary to the Government of India. She currently serves as the Additional Chief Secretary in the Department of Labour & Employment, Government of Gujarat, based in Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar.

She holds a postgraduate degree in Marketing with First Class and a Master of Arts in International Development Policy from Duke University, USA, also with First Class distinction. Her academic and professional background reflect a deep commitment to both policy formulation and administrative leadership.

Over the course of her illustrious career, Smt. Sharma has held several key positions across both the Government of Gujarat and the Central Government. Her experience spans a diverse range of departments, including labour and employment, education, disaster management, women and child development, health, commerce, and environment. Notably, she served as Principal Secretary of Higher Education from September 2016 to June 2021, and previously as Principal Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, and Commissioner in the Revenue Department.

Her earlier roles included being the CEO and later Principal Secretary of the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), as well as Commissioner and Secretary in the Department of Women and Child Development. She also served as Mission Director of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in Gujarat, Commissioner of Medical Services, and Coordinator for the state’s public health initiative ‘Nirogi Balak’.

At the Centre, she has worked in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as Deputy Secretary and later Director, and also undertook foreign training in commerce-related subjects during a one-year deputation. In the Gujarat cadre, her field postings included tenure as District Collector in Amreli and Bharuch, District Development Officer in Vadodara and Gandhinagar, and Assistant Collector in Rajkot.

Shri Manish Bhardwaj IAS ( Gujarat 1997) has been empanelled as Additional Secretary at the Centre.

Shri Manish Bhardwaj, a senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service, has recently been empanelled as Additional Secretary to the Government of India, marking a significant milestone in his distinguished career. An alumnus of IIT Roorkee, he graduated as a Gold Medalist in Electronics Engineering, followed by an M.Tech. in Optoelectronics from IIT Delhi, where he achieved First Class with Distinction.

Over the course of more than two decades, Shri Bhardwaj has held numerous pivotal roles at both the cadre and central government levels. He is currently serving as Deputy Director General (Joint Secretary equivalent) at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology since September 2023. Prior to this, he held the position of Principal Secretary in the Narmada Water Resources & Water Supply Department in Gujarat from March 2022 to September 2023.

Shri Bhardwaj’s extensive experience in agriculture and rural development is reflected in his successive roles in the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation in Gandhinagar, where he served as Principal Secretary, Secretary, and Additional Secretary between 2019 and 2022, overseeing domains including animal husbandry, cow breeding, and fisheries. Earlier, he was Managing Director of the Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd., playing a key role in consumer affairs and public distribution.

His leadership has also been demonstrated in roles such as Commissioner of the Relief Department, Secretary in Sports, Youth Services & Cultural Activities, and as Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara. He has served twice as District Collector, in Junagadh and Mahesana, and as District Development Officer in Jamnagar and Bharuch. His central deputation includes his tenure as Director (Census Operations) and Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India, overseeing census operations across Gujarat between 2009 and 2013.

Further showcasing his administrative versatility, Shri Bhardwaj has held charges in Technical Education, Labour & Employment, Sales Tax, and General Administration, including a notable additional charge as Principal Secretary to the Governor of Gujarat in 2021–22. His vast portfolio spans sectors such as land revenue, district administration, human resource development, water resources, agriculture, food and civil supplies, and ICT-based governance.

He has also held pivotal roles in the Government of Jharkhand, such as Secretary to the Chief Minister, Secretary in the Departments of IT, Industries, and IPR, Managing Director of Tribal Co-operative Development Corporation, and District Magistrate in multiple districts including Dhanbad, Deoghar, and Jamshedpur.

At the Centre, he is currently serving as Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Women & Child Development (since October 2022). Prior to this, he was posted on inter-cadre deputation to Jammu & Kashmir, where he held several senior roles including Managing Director and Principal Secretary of the J&K Power Development Corporation, Chairman of the Film Development Corporation, and Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. He also served as Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor of J&K during the same period.

Earlier, he served as Member Secretary at the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in the Ministry of Education, and as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Jal Shakti, overseeing Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation. He has also served as Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Railways and held various roles in the Human Resource Development, Social Welfare, and Health departments.

Shri Kumar has substantial field experience, having served as District Magistrate in multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, Barabanki, Rampur, and Banda, among others. He has also held positions such as Special Secretary in the Planning Department, Managing Director of Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, Director of the UP New and Renewable Energy Development Agency, and Director (Administration) in the Medical and Health Department.
