MEA Notification on Visas of Pakistani Nationals

Decision regarding Visas of Pakistani Nationals | Following the decisions taken by the Cabinet Committee on Security in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, the Government of India has announced the immediate suspension of visa services for Pakistani nationals.

  • All existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals stand revoked with effect from 27 April 2025
  • Medical visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be valid only till 29 April 2025
  • All Pakistani nationals currently in India must leave India before the expiry of visas, as now amended
  • Indian nationals are strongly advised to avoid travelling to Pakistan. Those Indian nationals currently in Pakistan are also advised to return to India at the earliest.

  • It is hereby clarified that the revocation of visas specified in the above decision does not apply to the Long Term Visas (LTVs) already issued to Hindu Pakistani nationals, which remain valid.

Shri Shiv Pal Singh IFoS (Uttar Pradesh 1997) presently CVO- Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL), Delhi given extension for a period upto 05.02.2026 (i.e. combined deputation tenure of 7 years) .

Shri Shiv Pal Singh is a 1997-batch officer of the Indian Forest Service (Uttar Pradesh cadre) and is presently serving as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), New Delhi. He assumed charge of this role on 21st June 2022 and has recently been granted an extension of tenure up to 5th February 2026. An engineer by academic training, Shri Singh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Thermal Engineering, both from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He has also pursued advanced studies in public policy at the University of California, Berkeley.

Throughout his distinguished career, Shri Singh has held a range of significant assignments at both the state and national levels. In his home cadre of Uttar Pradesh, he has been involved in forest and wildlife management, enforcement, and district-level administration. He has also served in key positions in the state’s Tourism Department, including as Special Secretary and as Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation, where he was instrumental in promoting tourism infrastructure and strategic development initiatives. His tenure included successful management of externally aided projects supported by international agencies such as JICA, the World Bank, and GEF.

At the national level, he has made noteworthy contributions while serving in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, where he handled the Wildlife Division, the Forest Conservation Division, and worked with the National Tiger Conservation Authority. He later joined the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, where he was closely associated with the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), overseeing critical aspects of urban infrastructure and service delivery reform across Indian cities.

As the Chief Vigilance Officer of BHEL, Shri Singh plays a key role in fostering institutional transparency, promoting integrity, and implementing vigilance mechanisms in line with Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) guidelines. His diverse experience in administration, project management, environmental governance, and public policy makes him a valuable asset in advancing public sector accountability and performance.

Smt. Anju Sharma has recently been empanelled for appointment as Additional Secretary to the Government of India. She currently serves as the Additional Chief Secretary in the Department of Labour & Employment, Government of Gujarat, based in Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar.

She holds a postgraduate degree in Marketing with First Class and a Master of Arts in International Development Policy from Duke University, USA, also with First Class distinction. Her academic and professional background reflect a deep commitment to both policy formulation and administrative leadership.

Over the course of her illustrious career, Smt. Sharma has held several key positions across both the Government of Gujarat and the Central Government. Her experience spans a diverse range of departments, including labour and employment, education, disaster management, women and child development, health, commerce, and environment. Notably, she served as Principal Secretary of Higher Education from September 2016 to June 2021, and previously as Principal Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, and Commissioner in the Revenue Department.

Her earlier roles included being the CEO and later Principal Secretary of the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), as well as Commissioner and Secretary in the Department of Women and Child Development. She also served as Mission Director of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in Gujarat, Commissioner of Medical Services, and Coordinator for the state’s public health initiative ‘Nirogi Balak’.

At the Centre, she has worked in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as Deputy Secretary and later Director, and also undertook foreign training in commerce-related subjects during a one-year deputation. In the Gujarat cadre, her field postings included tenure as District Collector in Amreli and Bharuch, District Development Officer in Vadodara and Gandhinagar, and Assistant Collector in Rajkot.

Smt. Anju Sharma’s extensive administrative experience, combined with her strong academic foundation in international development and policy, make her exceptionally well-qualified for senior leadership roles at the national level. Her empanelment as Additional Secretary is a testament to her distinguished service and capability.
