On November 14, 2024, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched its pavilion at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF), marking a key milestone in India’s digital transformation of rural governance. The pavilion, located at Hall 4, Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, showcases how the Panchayati Raj system is integrating with next-gen digital tools to empower rural citizens and improve governance at the grassroots level.
During the inauguration, Shri Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary of the Ministry, emphasized that the pavilion symbolizes the connection between urban and rural India, bringing to the forefront various digital initiatives that are revolutionizing rural administration. These include the Meri Panchayat App, which enables citizens to directly engage with local governance via smartphones, and the e-Gram Swaraj platform, available in 22 languages, to streamline Panchayat planning and administration.
Visitors can explore innovative models such as the Smart Panchayat, which uses solar energy and high-speed internet to offer services like telemedicine and digital financial services through Common Service Centres (CSCs) co-located in Panchayat Bhawans. The SVAMITVA Scheme, featured in the pavilion, also highlights how technology is transforming rural property rights and boosting economic opportunities.
The pavilion offers an interactive experience with 3D models, virtual reality, and geospatial technology for participatory planning, aiming to shape the future of rural India as a digitally empowered and self-reliant hub of progress. The exhibition continues until November 27, 2024, with visitor feedback playing an essential role in refining these initiatives for the benefit of rural communities.

The Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), under its Award to Reward initiative, has launched a pilot program aimed at supporting women-led MSMEs in scaling their businesses, specifically focusing on the beauty and wellness sector. The initiative, which began with a baseline study by MicroSave Consulting, identified four key sectors where over 100,000 women MSMEs operate, with beauty and wellness being one of the primary areas.
In collaboration with Urban Company, this pilot program targets women working in micro-units in the beauty industry, particularly in Delhi NCR. Twenty-five women will be selected based on specific criteria, and they will receive comprehensive training to help them grow their salon businesses. The goal is to develop scalable business templates and insights that can be expanded to support women MSMEs across India.
WEP, launched in 2018 under NITI Aayog, evolved into a public-private partnership in 2022. It connects various stakeholders from government, business, and civil society to create programs that address six essential needs for women entrepreneurs: access to finance, market linkages, training, mentoring, networking, and business development services. WEP’s collaboration with Urban Company marks a unique public-private partnership focused on empowering women in the beauty and wellness industry.
Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, inaugurated the MSME Pavilion at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) in Hall No. 6, New Delhi. Accompanied by Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner (MSME), and other senior officials, the Minister emphasized the Ministry’s focus on sustainability and inclusivity.
The Pavilion’s theme, “Green MSMEs”, highlights the Ministry’s efforts to promote clean and green technologies among MSMEs for transforming their operations. It also showcases the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2023, which supports artisans and craftspeople in 18 trades by offering end-to-end assistance.
This year’s MSME Pavilion features 200 exhibitors from 29 States and Union Territories, displaying a diverse array of products, including textiles, handlooms, handicrafts, leather goods, bamboo crafts, ceramics, toys, and jewelry. The event particularly emphasizes opportunities for Micro & Small Enterprises (MSEs) owned by women, SC/ST entrepreneurs, and those from Aspirational Districts, allowing them to connect with a broad audience of potential customers.
In line with the Ministry’s commitment to inclusive growth, 71% of stalls have been allocated to women entrepreneurs, 45% to SC/ST entrepreneurs, and 35% to entrepreneurs from Aspirational Districts—all free of cost. Over 85% of participants are first-timers at the fair.
During the event, Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi interacted with exhibitors, encouraging their contributions to the fair, and a ‘Nukkad Natak’ (street play) was performed to raise awareness about the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. This initiative underlines the government’s efforts to bolster entrepreneurship and sustainable practices within the MSME sector.
