Binod Kumar appointed MD and CEO – Indian Bank

Shri Binod Kumar, presently Executive Director of Punjab National Bank, to be the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of Indian Bank, a Public Sector Bank. He will replace Shri S L Jain next month.

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) recommended Shri Binod Kumar for the top position following an interface conducted on November 24, 2024, with 15 candidates for upcoming MD & CEO roles in Public Sector Banks. The recommendation was made considering his performance during the interface, professional experience, and alignment with the selection criteria.

Shri Kumar, an accomplished banker, is a graduate in Science from Ranchi University and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Banking & Finance from NIBM. He is also a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certified by GARP (USA) and a Certified Associate Member of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).

Shri Kumar began his banking career with Punjab National Bank (PNB) as a Management Trainee in 1994 and has since accumulated over 28 years of extensive experience across various domains, including branch operations, administrative roles, risk management, and corporate credit. During his tenure, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Bank’s DIFC branch and most recently headed the Corporate Credit Division at PNB’s Head Office as Chief General Manager.

He also holds diplomas in Treasury Investment & Risk Management and Banking & Finance from IIBF, alongside completing a Leadership Skill Development Program at IIM Bangalore. Additionally, Shri Kumar has represented PNB as Nominee Director on the boards of PNB Housing Finance Limited and India SME Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (ISARC).
