Bihar Police Leadership Reshuffle: CM Nitish Kumar Appoints New DGP and DG Vigilance

Indian Bureaucracy, Patna, December 13, 2024| The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government has announced three significant changes in the state’s police leadership. Shri Vinay Kumar, IPS (1991 batch), has been appointed as the full-time Director General of Police (DGP), Bihar. The position was previously held by Shri Alok Raj, IPS (1989 batch), a DG-rank officer, as an additional charge. Shri Alok Raj has now been posted as the Head of Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation, Patna. Additionally, Shri Jitendra Singh Gangwar, IPS (1993 batch), has been appointed as the Director General, Vigilance, with an additional charge of DG-cum-Commissioner, Civil Defence, a role he previously held in a full-time capacity.

Shri Vinay Kumar IPS (Bihar 1991), presently, Director General (DG) – cum – Chairman – cum – Managing Director, Bihar Police Building Construction, Patna, is appointed as Director General of Police, Bihar State, Patna, for a minimum period of two-years in accordance with directives issued by the Supreme Court of India.

Shri Alok Raj IPS (Bihar 1991), presently, Director General, Vigilance, with additional charge of DGP, Bihar Police, is appointed as Director General (DG) – cum – Chairman – cum – Managing Director, Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation, Patna.

Shri Jitendra Singh Gangwar IPS (Bihar 1993), presently, Director General (DG)-cum-Commissioner, Civil Defence, Patna, Bihar Police, is appointed as Director General –  Vigilance, with additional charge of DG-cum-Commissioner – Civil Defence, Bihar Police.
