Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar IAS (Uttar Pradesh 1995) presently Additional Secretary- Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has been given additional charge as Chief Executive Officer-  Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) w.e.f.  01.01.2025 for a period of 6 months .

Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, an esteemed Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has had an illustrious career marked by dedication, administrative acumen, and visionary leadership. His journey in public service began in 1996 as an Assistant Magistrate and Assistant Collector in Mahoba, where he laid the foundation for his commitment to governance. Subsequently, he served as a Joint Magistrate in Meerut from 1997 to 1999, gaining crucial experience in land revenue management and district administration.

He later took on the role of Chief Development Officer in Badaun (1999-2000) and Agra (2000-2001), where he played a significant role in developmental administration. His expertise in cooperative affairs was demonstrated during his tenure as Additional Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Lucknow in 2001. Following this, he served as District Magistrate in Hamirpur (2001-2002), Hardoi (2003-2004), Bareilly (2006-2007), Aligarh (2007-2008), Kushinagar (2008-2009), Muzaffarnagar (2009), and Meerut (2009-2011), successfully handling land revenue management and district administration.

His experience extended to urban development as the Special Secretary in the Department of Urban Development (2004-2006) and the energy sector as Managing Director in the Energy Department (2009). In 2011, he was appointed Divisional Commissioner of Meerut and later Saharanpur, displaying his expertise in divisional administration. His leadership continued as Secretary in various departments, including Rural Development, Planning, Programme Implementation, Vocational Education, and Sports & Youth Welfare.

From 2016 to 2017, Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar served as Divisional Commissioner in Lucknow, further strengthening his administrative credentials. He then held key positions in the Technical Education, MSME, and Finance Departments in Uttar Pradesh, where he contributed to policy implementation and financial management.

His vast experience and exemplary leadership earned him a prestigious role in the Government of India. In 2021, he was appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, where he played a crucial role in shaping digital governance. Recognizing his expertise, he was elevated to Additional Secretary in the same ministry in August 2022, a position he continues to hold. His tenure is marked by significant contributions to India’s digital transformation and technological advancement.

Throughout his distinguished career, Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar has demonstrated unwavering commitment to public service, innovative governance, and policy implementation, making invaluable contributions to the administrative landscape of India.
