BEML received the Gold Award for Future-Ready Infrastructure for its groundbreaking contribution to Indian Railways through the development of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trainset. This trainset is India’s first indigenously developed semi-high-speed sleeper train, capable of reaching speeds up to 180 kmph. A technological marvel, the Vande Bharat Sleeper is designed and manufactured entirely by BEML and stands as a proud symbol of the nation’s AatmaNirbhar Bharat vision.
This next-generation sleeper train redefines long-distance overnight rail travel by combining advanced features with superior passenger comfort. Built to global safety and performance standards, it includes crashworthy design, enhanced ride quality, and state-of-the-art safety systems, marking a major leap in India’s rail infrastructure capabilities.
In a second major recognition, BEML was awarded the Gold Award for Operational Excellence for its successful development of the BRS21 Electric Rope Shovel, India’s first fully indigenized all-electric rope shovel. This mining equipment represents a new benchmark in sustainable heavy machinery and energy-efficient excavation technology.
The BRS21 is engineered to deliver high performance in large-scale mining operations while reducing environmental impact. With improved energy efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and reduced operating costs, this innovation exemplifies BEML’s commitment to sustainable development and indigenous technological advancement under the Make in India initiative.
The awards were received by Shri Jitendra Kumar, General Manager & Head – International Business Division, on behalf of the Chairman and Managing Director of BEML, during the prestigious award ceremony held in New Delhi.
