Shri Baranwal Varunkumar Jagdish IAS (Gujarat 2014) has been appointed as Private
Secretary to the Minister for Commerce & Industry (Shri Piyush Goyal) in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (level of Deputy Secretary ) for a period upto 19.08.2029 (i.e. total tenure of five years as PS/OSD) .
Shri Baranwal Varunkumar Jagdish, a committed officer with a strong academic and professional background, has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Hon’ble Minister for Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication from MIT, Pune University, where he graduated with First Class and Distinction—demonstrating both academic merit and technical proficiency.
Shri Baranwal began his civil service journey with foundational training at LBSNAA, Mussoorie (2014–2016), followed by a brief tenure as Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, where he was involved in key policy areas related to agricultural development. He then served as Assistant Collector in Bharuch, focusing on land revenue management and district administration, contributing meaningfully to grassroots governance and development.
He further strengthened his administrative credentials as Managing Director at Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. in Rajkot from January 2023, where he played a vital role in public utility management. His most recent assignment as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Minister for Commerce & Industry provided him valuable insights into high-level decision-making and ministerial coordination, culminating in his elevation to the post of Private Secretary. Shri Baranwal’s experience across central and state roles reflects his deep commitment to public service and effective governance.
