Shri Arun Kumar Sahu IFS (1996) presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Bulgaria.
A distinguished member of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) since 1996, Shri Sahu brings over two and a half decades of extensive diplomatic experience, making him exceptionally well-suited for this prestigious role. Currently serving as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and played a vital role in strengthening India’s foreign relations across the globe.
Shri Sahu’s diplomatic journey has been marked by an impressive portfolio of international assignments. He has represented India in diverse and strategically important locations such as Beijing, Tehran, London, Ottawa, and New Delhi. Shri Sahu’s academic background is equally commendable. He completed his schooling at Ravenshaw Collegiate School in Cuttack and Chandra Sekhar Behera Zilla School in Sambalpur. He pursued higher studies at Ravenshaw College, which laid the foundation for his intellectual pursuits. He holds master’s degrees in War in the Modern World from King’s College London and Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. These academic accomplishments have significantly contributed to his analytical prowess and his ability to navigate complex global issues effectively.
