The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to integrate advanced weapons and sensors into the LCA Tejas aircraft. The agreement, signed by Shri Prabhulla Chandran VK, Technology Director (Avionics and Weapon Systems) of ADA, and Air Vice Marshal KN Santosh VSM, Commandant of the Software Development Institute (SDI) of IAF, aims to enhance the operational capability of the Tejas-LCA fighter. ADA, operating under the Department of Defence R&D, is tasked with designing and developing Tejas-LCA and its variants. The collaboration enables the IAF to independently manage the integration of sensors and weapons, fostering know-how transfer from ADA to SDI. The initiative is vital in the current war scenario, where continuous upgrades to aircraft weapons and sensor systems are essential. ADA has previously achieved the successful development and type certification of Tejas LCA, boasting over 10,000 incident-free flying sorties. The IAF has already formed two squadrons of this fighter aircraft, and the induction of twin-seater aircraft is underway.
