Shri Subir Dutta IFS(2003), presently Ambassador, Embassy of India, Madagascar, has been appointed as Ambassador to the Union of Comoros with residence in Antananarivo. He is expected to take up his assignment shortly.

Mr. Subir Dutta has served in various capacities during his long tenure in the Ministry of External Affairs.  His previous diplomatic assignments include postings in Indian Embassies in Bonn, Seoul, Kuwait, Bangkok, Tel Aviv and Vientiane, during which he handled consular, information and culture, administration and accounts as well as political matters. His stints in the Ministry of External Affairs included his working in the Minister of External Affairs’ office, in the WANA Division dealing with West Asia and Northern Africa countries and as Deputy Secretary (Nepal) in the Northern Division. In addition to handling political matters, Mr. Dutta handled several Government of India funded infrastructure  and other projects in Nepal and in countries in the WANA Division.

Mr. Dutta, born on 30 December 1958, had graduated with Honours in Economics. He is married to Mrs. Indrani Dutta and they have one daughter.
