Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta IRS (IT 2008) presently Deputy Chairperson- Paradip Port Authority (Non-CSS post) has been given lateral shift as Deputy Chairperson- Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla (Non-CSS post), under Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways on deputation basis for the period upto 10.05.2028 (i.e., the combined deputation tenure of 5 years outside the cadre).
Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta had assumed charge as Deputy Chairman of the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on 11th May 2023. An accomplished officer of the Indian Revenue Service, Shri Dasgupta brings with him a rich and diverse experience of over 13 years in tax administration, policy, enforcement, infrastructure, and international taxation.
Academically distinguished, Shri Dasgupta holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, where he was also pursuing a direct Ph.D. before clearing the prestigious Civil Services Examination in his first attempt. He further holds an LLB from Gujarat University and an LLM, reflecting his strong legal acumen that complements his professional responsibilities.
Throughout his service, Shri Dasgupta has held numerous high-impact and sensitive positions. His prior role as Additional Director (Investigation), Income Tax Department, Ahmedabad, showcased his capacity for high-pressure leadership. He successfully planned and executed several large-scale enforcement actions, including one of Gujarat’s highest cumulative cash seizures. His role involved extensive inter-agency coordination, rapid crisis response, and high-stakes decision-making, proving his adeptness in handling complex and sensitive operations.
Known for his efficiency and methodical approach, Shri Dasgupta also designed a Litigation Management Software to streamline litigation tracking and deadlines, for which he received a certificate of merit. His tenure in international taxation, corporate assessment, and transfer pricing has further equipped him to thrive in IT-enabled environments under tight deadlines.
Shri Dasgupta has shown consistent competence in managing administrative and union-sensitive environments, fostering collaborative engagement without compromising institutional objectives. He has served as the Nodal Officer for critical functions such as Election Expenditure Monitoring (Gujarat), Subsidiary Multi Agency Centre, REIC & CEIB, and NDPSA-SAFEMA.
Upon taking charge at PPA, he expressed his commitment to advancing the port’s stature and fostering a harmonious ecosystem that encourages sustainable growth. With his multidimensional experience, strategic vision, and leadership grounded in integrity and innovation, Shri Dasgupta is well poised to steer Paradip Port Authority toward greater achievements in the years to come.
