Shri Rakesh Shrivastava, a distinguished officer of the Indian Telecom Service has been repatriated prematurely to his parent cadre from the position of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at the Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA), Mumbai—a role he had taken charge of on 1st October 2020. A dedicated and experienced officer, Shri Shrivastava has devoted over 22 years of his career to public service, handling a wide spectrum of responsibilities across administration, operations, and vigilance in various government organizations and locations.
An alumnus in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Shri Shrivastava further enhanced his credentials with an MBA in Human Resource Management. Throughout his illustrious career, he has held several senior roles in the Government of India. Notably, he served as General Manager at RailTel Corporation of India Ltd under the Ministry of Railways, where he was instrumental in overseeing and implementing the ambitious BharatNet project across 15 districts and 2 Union Territories in Gujarat. His leadership in rolling out railway modernization initiatives like Wi-Fi and CCTV at stations, as well as enabling eOffice systems across five divisions of Indian Railways, reflects his commitment to digital transformation in governance.
Prior to this, Shri Shrivastava had significant tenures in BSNL and the Department of Telecommunications, where he skillfully managed administrative, vigilance, grievance redressal, RTI responses, and disciplinary matters. His proactive approach in conducting Telephone Adalats and addressing public concerns further underscores his people-centric governance style. Shri Shrivastava’s professional journey is marked by consistent excellence, innovation, and a strong sense of public duty.
