Indian Bureaucracy, New Delhi, May 17, 2025| Signalling a decisive consolidation of administrative control with both Delhi and the Centre under BJP, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday transferred 66 AGMUT cadre IAS and IPS officers in a sweeping reshuffle. This marks the first major bureaucratic overhaul since the BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years. Delhi saw the biggest churn, with 22 officers moved out and 23 brought in from other Union Territories.

Among the notable changes, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Ashish Chandra Verma, who had held key positions in Finance and Revenue and was at the centre of policy disputes with the previous Delhi government, was transferred to Jammu and Kashmir. Several other senior officers, including Anil Kumar Singh, Chanchal Yadav, Sachin Shinde, and Vinod P Kavle, have also been reassigned to new postings across the Union Territories. The reshuffle that extends to IPS officers as well, with key Delhi Police officials and senior district police commissioners transferred to Arunachal Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Goa, and other regions. New assignments within the Delhi administration were also announced.
