Shri Ashish Goyal IIS (1996) presently working as Additional DG- National Museum under the Ministry of Culture has been appointed as Director General (Media) – Election  Commission of India (JS level) for an overall tenure of 5 years upto 30.04.2028 .

Shri Ashish Goyal, IIS (1996), is a seasoned officer of the Indian Information Service whose career has spanned key roles in both cultural administration and public communication. After graduating into the 1996 IIS batch, he took on leadership positions at India’s premier cultural institutions, most recently serving as Additional Director General of the National Museum in New Delhi, where he spearheaded major outreach and engagement initiatives.

Concurrently, he held the directorship of the Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad, overseeing the preservation and promotion of India’s art and heritage. A committed mentor, Shri Goyal has also guided multiple cohorts of IIS officer trainees, sharing his expertise in media strategy and governance. In April 2025, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his elevation—by upgrading a vacant Director post—to Director General (Media) of the Election Commission of India, a JS‑level role he will hold for a five‑year tenure ending on April 30, 2028.
