Shri Abhishek Singh IAS (Nagaland 1995) presently Additional Secretary- Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology has been appointed as Director General- National Informatics Centre (NIC), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (rank and pay of Additional Secretary) with additional charge of Additional Secretary- MeitY.
Shri Abhishek Singh, a distinguished officer known for his visionary leadership in digital governance , an alumnus of IIT Kanpur holds both B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in Mechanical Engineering, graduating with First Class honors. He further enhanced his academic credentials with a postgraduate degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he again secured First Class distinction—reflecting a consistent record of academic and professional excellence.
Over the span of his illustrious career, Shri Singh has held several key positions at both the Centre and State levels. He served as Additional Secretary in MeitY and played pivotal roles as CEO of the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and MyGov, where he championed citizen engagement and digital empowerment. His contributions as Executive Director (IT) in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and as Director in the Ministry of IT were instrumental in shaping India’s e-governance frameworks.
Earlier in his career, he held critical administrative positions including District Magistrate in Hardoi, Bulandshahr, and Badaun during his inter-cadre deputation in Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Singh’s deep commitment to innovation in public administration, particularly in leveraging technology for inclusive governance, continues to be widely acknowledged. His appointment as Director General of NIC is a testament to his enduring dedication to building a digitally empowered India.
