Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle in Meghalaya: Key IAS Officers Assigned Additional Responsibilities

Meghalaya IAS officer appointments March 2025 | In a recent bureaucratic reshuffle, the Government of Meghalaya has assigned additional responsibilities to several senior IAS and MCS officers. These changes aim to strengthen administrative efficiency and ensure smoother functioning across critical departments.

Shri S.C. Sadhu, IAS (RR: 2011), presently serving as Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, has been given the additional charge of Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen). He will assume this role with effect from the date of taking over charge and will continue until further orders.

Shri R.P. Marak, IAS (SCS: 2011), who is currently serving as Secretary to the Government, Home (Police) Department, has been entrusted with additional charges. He will now also serve as Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Housing Department and Arts & Culture Department, effective from the date of taking over charge.

In a corresponding development, Smti A. Nikhla, IAS (SCS: 2016), Additional Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Home (Passport) and Public Health Engineering Departments, and Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), has been relieved of her duties as Additional Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department and as Mission Director, SBM (Grameen). This change will take effect from the date of handing over charge.

Additionally, Shri Levenstone Ch. Marak, MCS, Joint Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Housing Department, has been given additional responsibility as Secretary, Meghalaya Human Rights Commission, effective from the date of taking over charge and until further orders.

These appointments reflect the state government’s effort to optimize governance by entrusting experienced officers with cross-functional leadership roles.
