Dr. Narendra Kumar Meena, a distinguished officer of the Indian Administrative Service, has consistently demonstrated excellence in governance and public service throughout his illustrious career. An officer of the Gujarat cadre, Dr. Meena is currently appointed as the Municipal Commissioner of Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation, where he is expected to bring in dynamic reforms and developmental momentum to urban governance.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Meena served as the Director of Fisheries, Gandhinagar, where he played a pivotal role in policy implementation and sustainable development in the fisheries sector. His contributions helped promote livelihood opportunities and ecological balance, especially in coastal and inland aquaculture zones.
Dr. Narendra Kumar Meena’s administrative journey is marked by a wide range of impactful roles. He served as the Joint Managing Director at the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), where he worked to enhance industrial infrastructure and facilitate investment-friendly policies across Gujarat. As the Collector and District Magistrate in multiple districts, including a notable tenure from 2019 to 2023, he displayed a strong command over land revenue management, disaster response, and district administration.
With valuable experience at the grassroots, Dr. Meena has also worked as Additional Deputy Inquiry Commissioner in the Commissionerate of Rural Development, where he focused on rural empowerment and social sector delivery mechanisms. His role as Deputy Municipal Commissioner with the Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) exposed him to the nuances of urban infrastructure, planning, and civic administration.
His tenure as Commissioner, Youth Services & Cultural Activities allowed him to contribute toward youth engagement and the promotion of art and culture. Earlier in his career, Dr. Narendra Kumar Meena held the post of District Development Officer in Mehsana, and Assistant Collector in Panchmahals, strengthening his foundational understanding of district and sub-divisional governance.
