Gensol Engineering Ltd., a pioneer in solar power EPC services and the electric mobility sector, has achieved a significant milestone by winning the bid for Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited’s (GUVNL) 250 MW/500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project. This project aims to provide “On-Demand” electricity to Gujarat’s DISCOMs during peak and off-peak hours, extending renewable energy availability and bolstering grid resilience. Initially delivering 250 MW/500 MWh with two charge/discharge cycles daily, the project includes a greenshoe option that could expand it to 500 MW/1000 MWh, potentially generating INR 2680 Crore over the 12-year Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) tenure.

Anmol Singh Jaggi, Managing Director of Gensol Engineering Limited, expressed optimism about the project’s impact, stating, “It’s a proud moment for Gensol. This landmark for GUVNL BESS project not only highlights Gensol’s expertise in renewable energy but also sets a clear direction for our future endeavors. It aligns with our commitment to supporting India’s energy transition goals through innovative and sustainable solutions.”

Battery energy storage is crucial for integrating renewable energy and managing grid uncertainties. Gensol will deploy advanced energy storage solutions and management systems to meet stringent efficiency standards, reinforcing their reputation as a leader in the renewable energy landscape.

This project marks a pivotal moment for Gensol, showcasing their EPC capabilities and commitment to advancing Advanced Chemistry Cell-based Energy Storage Systems in India. With strong government support and growing demand, the BESS market is poised for substantial growth, and Gensol is poised to lead this transformation.
