Shri Biraja Prasad (IFS 1998) presently Counsellor, Embassy of lndia, Moscow, has been appointed as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Tajikistan. Shri Biraja Prasad’s Indian bureaucracy career started with diplomatic assignments as Third Secretary and then Second Secretary (Political) in Embassy of India, Moscow (Russian Federation) from 2000 to 2002; and Second Secretary (Political & Commercial) & HOC in Embassy of India, Almaty (Kazakhstan) from 2002 to 2004. He also served as Under Secretary (Russia) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), New Delhi from 2004 to 2005; Under Secretary (Europe West) from 2005 to 2007; Deputy Secretary (Europe West) and then Director (Europe West) from 2007 to 2011.
He holds a degree of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electronics and Communication Engineering and speaks English, Russian, Hindi, Oriya and Spanish.
