On Day 3 of the CSIR-NIScPR’s One Week One Lab program, a science communication workshop was held, attended by over 50 teachers. Shri C. B. Singh, Head of Jigyasa, Training and HR Division at CSIR-NIScPR, welcomed the participants. Prof. Sharmishtha Banerjee from the University of Hyderabad, the Chief Guest, stressed the importance of teaching interdisciplinary science, highlighting the interconnectedness of subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
Ms. Arika Mathur, Head – Operations and Assessments at KAMP, delivered an in-depth presentation on the Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform (KAMP), an initiative by CSIR-NIScPR and NCPL. KAMP aims to discover the innate talents and skills of students, generating enthusiasm among the teachers.
Shri Hasan Jawaid Khan, Chief Scientist at CSIR-NIScPR and Editor of ‘Science Reporter’ magazine, discussed Science Communication and Citizen Responsibility, emphasizing the duty of every citizen to combat misinformation and fake news about science.
Ms. Sonali Nagar, Associate Editor of Science Reporter magazine, provided training to the teachers on the intricacies of Popular Science Writing. The workshop concluded with a Popular Science Writing assignment given by Shri Hasan Jawaid Khan.
