Shri Tuhin Kanta Pandey IAS (Odisha 1987), is appointed as the new Secretary – Department of Investment and Public Asset Management, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India.
Shri Tuhin Kant Pandey is an IAS officer with a strong educational background, holding an M.B.A. in Management from the University of Birmingham, UK, and a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Punjab University, Chandigarh. His academic foundation in economics and management has equipped him to navigate complex administrative and policy roles effectively.
Throughout his career, Shri Pandey has held various key positions across finance, planning, taxation, health, transport, and industrial development. As Principal Secretary of the Finance Department, he focused on financial governance and policy formulation, contributing to fiscal planning and efficient budgetary control. His role as Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat involved overseeing personnel and administrative matters, while his time at the Planning Commission saw him engaged in strategic planning and program implementation at the national level.
In the Commercial Taxes Department, Shri Pandey worked on optimising revenue collection and improving tax systems. His involvement in health administration included policy-making aimed at improving healthcare delivery in Odisha. He has also handled administrative roles in the transport sector, where he contributed to the development of infrastructure and services.
Shri Pandey has served in international roles, including a posting with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, where he gained experience in global industrial development. His diverse roles have provided him with a broad perspective on governance and policy, both within India and internationally.
His early administrative experience includes positions such as District Magistrate and Sub-Collector, where he managed land revenue and district administration. Over the years, Shri Pandey has consistently contributed to key sectors, from small-scale industries to commerce and institutional finance.
