The Union Government has recently initiated significant leadership changes within central paramilitary forces, announcing the transfer and posting of three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). These changes are part of a comprehensive effort to boost operational effectiveness and improve national security management.

According to an official notification, IPS Anupama Nilekar Chandra, a 1994 batch officer of the Bihar cadre, has been appointed as Additional Director General (ADG) of the SSB. Her term will last until February 23, 2025, or until further orders. Before this role, Chandra served as the ADG of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), where she made significant contributions to police research and training advancements.

Another key appointment is IPS Saroj Kumar Thakur, a 2010 batch officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre, who will now serve as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the SSB for a five-year tenure. His expertise in leadership and operations is expected to enhance the organization’s capabilities.

In a similar move, IPS Rajendra Narayan Das, a 2006 batch officer from the Chhattisgarh cadre, has been assigned as DIG in the CRPF for a five-year tenure. Das’s extensive experience in managing internal security challenges will play a crucial role in strengthening the CRPF’s operational framework.

These strategic appointments underscore the government’s dedication to establishing capable leadership within key paramilitary forces, essential for maintaining internal security and effective border management.
