20 IPS Transferred in Chhattisgarh: What Does It Mean After the IAS Reshuffle?

The IAS reshuffle appointed 11 Collectors, while the IPS reshuffle placed 10 SPs in districts like Rajnandgaon and Surguja, among the 15 Naxal-affected districts (about 40% of the state’s 33 districts). The synchronized timing and shared district focus suggest a coordinated strategy to support development programs like Jal Jeevan Mission, Health and Education Missions, while ensuring law and order. Rotating officers between high-risk Naxal areas and stable regions like Raipur prevents burnout and maintains fresh perspectives. Though independently managed by the General Administration and Home Departments, these reshuffles mirror national trends, such as synchronized IAS-IPS transfers in states like Uttar Pradesh (2023, 50+ officers) during policy shifts. This convergence reflects Chhattisgarh’s aim to unify civil and police leadership by focusing IPS and IAS shuffles intersect geographically for effective governance, sustained coordination and longer tenures, all essential for lasting stability and impactful outcomes in these critical regions.

1. Shri Pawan Deo IPS (Chhattisgarh 1992), presently Additional Director General of Police, Housing Corporation, Raipur, is appointed as Chairman-cum-Managing Director.
2. Shri Ankit Kumar Garg IPS (Chhattisgarh 2006), presently Inspector General of Police (IG), Surguja Range, Surguja, is transferred and appointed as IG – Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB), Anti-Naxal Operations (ANO), Police Headquarters (PHQ), Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, Chhattisgarh.
3. Shri Dhruv Gupta IPS (Chhattisgarh 2005), presently IG, Police Headquarters (PHQ), Raipur, is transferred and posted as IG – CID, PHQ, Raipur, with additional charge of IG – C.C.T.N.S./Cyber Cell/Dial 112, and IG- Technical Services, Police Headquarters, Raipur.
4. Shri Deepak Kumar Jha IPS (Chhattisgarh 2007), IG, Rajnandgaon Range, Rajnandgaon, is transferred and posted as IG – Surguja Range, Surguja, Chhattisgarh.
5. Shri Abhishek Shandilya IPS (Chhattisgarh 2007), IG, Law and Order, Special Branch, Police Headquarters, Raipur, is transferred and posted as IG – Rajnandgaon Range, Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.
6. Shri Balaji Rao Somawar IPS (Chhattisgarh 2007), presently IG, PHQ, Nava Raipur, is transferred and posted as IG – Law and Order, Special Branch, Police Headquarters, Raipur.
7. Shri Ajatshatru Bahadur Singh IPS (Chhattisgarh 2011), presently Director, Training Operation, Fire and Emergency Services & Home Guards and Civil Defence, Headquarters, Raipur, is hereby transferred and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Intelligence, Special Branch, Police Headquarters, Raipur.
8. Shri Vivek Shukla IPS (Chhattisgarh 2012), Superintendent of Police, Janjgir-Champa, is transferred and posted as Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) – CID, Police Headquarters, Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
9. Shri Rajesh Kumar Agrawal IPS (Chhattisgarh 2012), presently CO, VIP Security BN, Mana, Raipur, is transferred and posted as SP Surguja, Chhattisgarh.
10. Shri Vijay Agrawal IPS (Chhattisgarh 2012), presently Superintendent of Police (SP), Balodabazar-Bhatapara, is transferred and posted as SP – Durg, Chhattisgarh.
