In Assam, around 17 lakh 50 thousand people in 26 districts have been affected by the current wave of floods. Several rivers are flowing above the danger level.
Apart from residential areas, national parks and wildlife sanctuaries are also reeling under the fury of flood. Participating in an talk, Forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma said that 134 camps of the Kaziranga national park are submerged.

She said 32 animals including three rhino calves drowned to death in flood. The minister said that drone is being used effectively to prevent poaching at Kaziranga. As of now, 90 animals have been rescued safely. Ms.Brahma said that additional forces have been deployed at Kaziranga.

Water Resource minister Keshab Mahanta arrived in Majuli last night to take stock of the situation. He held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner.

Overall 29 thousand people are staying at 123 relief camps across the state. However, 600 people have left relief camps at Majuli district as the situation improved. Official sources said, five persons have died due to flood related incidents during last 24 hours. With this, the death toll has gone up to 49
