Vigilance Awareness Week Celebrations at NLC India

In commemoration with the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallababhai Patel, former Deputy Prime Minister India, Vigilance Awareness Week is celebrated throughout India.  All the Government and Public Sector organisations celebrate Vigilance Awareness Week to bring about awareness on Vigilance among the employees and the public.  The theme of the celebrations for this year is “Public participation in Promoting Integrity and eradicating corruption” and would be observed from 31-10-2016 to 05-11-2016.

The Vigilance Awareness Week celebration 2016 at NLCI was inaugurated by Dr. S.K. Acharya, CMD NLCI on 31-10-2016 at Learning and Development Centre.Shri A. Kaliyamoorthy, Superintendent of Police (Retd.) was the Chief Guest.

In his chief guest address, Shri Kaliyamoorthy, elaborated on the theme of the celebration, Public participation in Promoting Integrity and eradicating corruption.  He emphasised on providing quality education to the children who are the future citizen of India. He wanted the parents to spend more time with their children.  On comparing with the wealth of others, greed and corruption occurs in oneself and insisted that this type of comparison should be avoided.

In his inaugural address Dr. S.K. Acharya CMD NLCI wanted every human to fight against greed and lead a disciplined life.  He wanted everyone to follow the systems and procedures and not to deviate them as no one is above the system. There is inherent desire in every human being to fall prey to greed and everyone should desist this desire. He said several e-portals are available nowadays with which corruption can be avoided and requested not to misuse the same for taking vengeance. He also wanted the week long celebrations should not be a ritual and everyone should be self disciplined and fight against corruption. He paid homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in protecting our country and fighting against terrorists.

Earlier Dr. S.K. Acharya released the special edition of the House Journal of Vigilance Department, Lignite Eyes, the handout containing the message from Shri. Manojkumar,IAS, the Chief Vigilance Officer, NLCI and the e-version of the Annual Report of the Vigilance Department for the year 2015-16.

On behalf of NLCI, special programmes in connection with Vigilance Awareness are arranged for the School and College students at Chennai, Madurai and Tuticorin. Also Talk Shows are arranged on behalf of NLCI in Doordarshan in which students from Colleges would participate and the same would be relayed in DD(Pothigai) on 03.11.2016 (6.00 to 6.30 pm). In the special programme on Vigilance Awareness, Smt.G. Thilgavathy,IPS DGP (Retired) and Shri.N. Muthu, Executive Director(HR), NLCI have participated in the panel discussion and recorded their views. This programme would be relayed in DD(Pothigai) on 05.11.2016 (Velicham – 7.30 to 8.00 pm). The above programmes are sponsored by NLCI.

In the celebrations, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance), Shri Subir Das  Director (Mines), Shri V. Thangapandian Director (Power), Shri P. Selvakumar, Director (Planning & Projects) felicitated. Dr. S.K. Acharya, CMD NLCI, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) and Shri V. Thangapandian Director (Power) administered pledge on Vigilance to the participants. The pledge was administered to the employees in the respective Units. In the function, messages about the Vigilance Awareness Week 2016 celebrations from the Hon’ble President of India, the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India,  Hon’ble Union Minister for Home Affairs,  Hon’ble Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (IC) for Public Grievances & Pensions, the Cabinet Secretary, Chief Vigilance Commissioner, Vigilance Commissioner and Additional Secretary/CVC were read.   Earlier, Shri O.S. Swaminathan, GM/Vigilance welcomed the gathering and Shri S. Chandran, DGM / Vigilance proposed  vote of thanks. Shri. P. Sathiamoorthy, Dy. General Manager(HR) [MCO] compered the programme.

Earlier, a mass rally of students of Neyveli Schools highlighting the importance National Unity Day in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Shri. Sardar Vallababhai Patel was organised by Education Department and rally was flagged off by Shri. S. Sridhar, Executive Director/TA,PR,CSR & EDN.
