Venkaiah Naidu to inaugurate FICCI Smart Cities Summit 2015 in New Delhi

FICCI is organising a Smart Cities Summit, “100 Smart Cities: Mission Transform Nation” on 8th and 9th October 2015 at FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi. Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India is slated to inaugurate the event on 8th October 2015. Smart City Summit is a FICCI initiative to support the gigantic business interests generated of the “100 Smart Cities” initiative of the Government of India where FICCI aims to provide a platform to discuss the progress of
India’s Smart City mission, approach and plans adopted by States, Cities and Urban Local Bodies, implementation challenges, business opportunities for smart technology solutions, case studies of international smart city projects and experiences and expert views of Indian and foreign urban sector professionals towards building smart cities.

FICCI Smart Cities Summit 2015-indianbureaucracyExpressing views on the “FICCI Smart Cities Summit 2015”, Dr. Jyotsna Suri, President, FICCI said that the Summit aims to deliberate on the road map for cities and how industry could play a significant role in the Smart City development mission. FICCI has taken a big initiative to work with cities through Industry – Government
partnership. The summit would showcase some of the best international models of development as well as highlight the Indian working models for cities. All stakeholders should support and contribute towards successful implementation of the smart cities mission to bring about complete transformation of the urban landscape of our country.
Mr. Pradeep Puri, Chairman, FICCI Urban Infrastructure & Smart Cities Committee said that FICCI through its Urban Infrastructure & Smart Cities Committee is engaging with various Indian cities to advise on appropriate governance, implementation frameworks and financing options.
Dr. A Didar Singh, Secretary General, FICCI opined that the summit is being organized at the time when 98 selected cities are preparing to participate in the smart city challenge competition and charting out their smart city plans, the summit would showcase many solutions that cities could adopt and implement in their journey to build
smart cities.
The summit will have participation from City Mayors, senior officials from Central & State Governments, Municipal Corporations, Development Authorities, Multilateral Institutions, Banks & Financial Institutions and private sector companies operating in the fields of urban transport, waste management, water supply & distribution, ICT, real estate, clean & energy efficient solutions companies, etc.
