V O Chidambaranar Port observes ‘Swachh Bharat’ cleaning campaign

In aim to spread awareness on cleanliness among the citizens of the country and to enforce the directives of Government of India in launching the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, V.O.Chidambaranar Port conducted a mass cleaning drive in the Port Residential Complex.

To mark the beginning of the cleaning drive, the ‘Swacch Bharat’ Pledge was administered by Shri S. Natarajan, Deputy Chairman, V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust. C. Selvaraj, Trustee, DIG Navdeep Raj, Commanding officer, Indian Coast Guard, Heads of the Departments, Officers, Staff, Port School Teachers & Children and CISF Unit took the ‘Swacch Bharat’ pledge.

A grand procession, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness through public address systems and placards, passed through the Port Colony. Pamphlets sensitizing the general public on whole hearted adoption of cleanliness, were distributed to the residents of Port Colony. Street plays were also organized in various parts of the Port Colony, highlighting the values of cleanliness.

The Port School students, officers and staff of V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust involved themselves in cleaning of Port Quarters, Port Hospital, Operational area, and the Administrative Office of V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust.
