Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has ordered stringent action against officers who unnecessarily delayed the proposal for four-laning of a bridge on a road between Kannauj-Tirwa and made the four-lane bridge a two-lane bridge. He gave these instructions at a review meeting held at his official residence regarding the matter.

It may be pointed out here that during his Tuesday’s visit to Kannauj for launching and foundation laying of many development projects, the Chief Minister had done an on-spot assessment of the Kannauj-Tirwa road. During the visit, he got to know that the bridge was originally supposed to be fourlane but it was built as only two-lane.

On further enquiry, it was found that a proposal for four-laning was sought but the same was being unnecessarily delayed. The Chief Minister had expressed his displeasure on the matter. In follow-up to the issue, the review of the matter under the public works department (PWD) was done and orders were issued for strict action against guilty officers for not following the guidelines and parameters.

The Chief Minister also warned against any laxity with regards to construction works. It may be pointed out here that the state government, had in the past, decided to connect all district headquarters with four-lane roads. Following this, work on quality roads is underway across the state.
