Uma Bharti hails Wapcos work in Afghanistan

Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Sushri Uma Bharati has hailed the performance of WAPCOS Ltd, a PSU of her Ministry. Referring to the successful construction of Salma dam in Afghanistan by the company the Minister said such activities not only bring name and fame to the company but also create tremendous goodwill for the country. Speaking on the occasion of the dividend and bonus share payment ceremony of the company in New Delhi today the Minister expressed the hope that company will bring more such laurels for the country in the years to come.

Earlier Shri RK. Gupta, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, WAPCOS Limited presented dividend cheque of Rs. 25.25 crore for the year 2015-16 which is the highest ever since its inception in 1969 to the Minister. Bonus Shares Certificate for Rs. 100.00 lakh were also presented to the Minister raising company’s paid-up capital to Rs. 35.00 crore. During the year 2015-2016, the company achieved the highest ever Profitability of Rs. 129.19 Crore and secured New Business of Rs. 1747.46 Crore. The Net worth of WAPCOS has reached Rs.362.61 Crore.

WAPCOS has declared a composite score of 100, which is the highest achievable score as per the MOU evaluation system of the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises. WAPCOS has become eligible for “Excellent” Rating on the basis of its performance in all Financial & Dynamic parameters under MOU such as Turnover; Profitability; New Business; Projects Implementation; Customer Satisfaction; Human Resource Management etc.

The Company forayed and forged ahead to secure new business in countries like Angola, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Central African Republic, Chad, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Kenya, Lao PDR, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Mongolia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania, Trinidad & Tabago, Togo, Uganda, Yemen and Zimbabwe by virtue of which WAPCOS increased its presence in many countries and also facilitated strengthening of bilateral relations between India and other countries.
