NLC India has organized the fortnight long Clean India celebrations which begins today in a constructive way by involving the General Public.
Mahatma Gandhi
The Central Government has a Mission to make the country clean by October, 2019, the 150th Birth Anniversay of Mahatma Gandhi through a massive project and is already executing it. They have planned to carry home the message to the common public about the importance of cleanliness and the awareness to that effect. The clean India Movement is being celebrated involving public, students and employees to a larger extent.
Awareness Rally
To mark the inauguration of the Clean India Movement from today (16.08.2017) Shri R. Vikraman, Diector(HR), NLCIL yesterday(15.08.2017) flagged off an awareness rally by 500 school student of Neyveli from Gandhij’s bust near the NLCIL Guest House at Block-25 and concluded at the Bharathi Stadium, the venu for the celebrations of the Independence Day, 2017.
Health Division
On the same day, Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD and the Functional Directors of NLCIL and Employees engaged in cleaning activity near NLCIL General Hospital organized by the Health Division of the T.A. Department of the company. Similar activities were organized near Neyveli Arch Gate and Neyveli Super Bazaar involving 50 Employees. Around 300 saplings were planted near the Corporate Office, Villudayanpattu Temple and Mini Auto premises at Neyveli Township. A photo Exhibition portraying the various activities carried out by NLCIL in creating awareness on cleanliness was organized at the Bharathi Stadium by the PR Department. Hoardings with such messages were displayed at prominent locations of the township and were also screened on the LED Wall during the Independence Day Celebrations.
CSR
The Corporate Social Responsibility Cell is planned to organize this fortnight long Clean India Campaign at nearby villages in a big way. The Department has planned to organize various events and activities at the villages of Sorathur, Perperiyan kuppam, Marungur, Vallam, Ammeri, Vadalur, Vridhachalam, Kattu koodalur, Umangalam, Venkadampetti, Thoppilikuppam, Samiyar pettai, Maruthoor, Vegakollai, Keezhmampattu, Chathiram, Pallineerodai, Therkiruppu and Poolampadi.
NGOs
Activities such as Women Cleanliness Awareness Camp, Environmental Personal Hygiene Camp, Cleaning of Water Bodies, Cleanliness among Women Self-help Group, Cleaning of heritage places, open defecation ban are being organized in the above villages during the fortnight. Employees of NLCIL, members of Neyveli Chapter of Women in Public Sector, Volunteers of Ramakrishna Seva Sangam, Neyveli Blood Donors Association, Voluntary Blood Donors Association of Neyveli, People’s Servie Group are involving themselves in this activity. It is to be noted that the Manimukthar River at Vridhachalam is to be cleaned on 20-08-2017.
Education Department
The Education Department of NLCIL is organizing drawing, essay and elocution competition at Neyveli St. Paul’s Matriculation HSS, NLCIL Boy’s HSS and Aurobindo Vidyala Matric HSS on 22, 23 and 24 of this month respectively. On 28-08-2017, there will be a video / audio sessions at NLCIL Learning and Development Centre. Experts in the field will deliver lectures on the topic at the same venue on 29-08-2017.
