After successful trial runs and positive feedback received from the stakeholders, stamping of hand baggage tags has been removed at six airports viz.: Chennai, Trivandrum, Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati and Patna with effect from 1st June, 2017.  The Trial runs were carried out at these airports by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) after installation of HD CCTV Cameras at Pre-Embarkation Security Check (PESC) points and boarding gates in coordination with CISF.

Prior to this, in April 2017, Passengers flying out of two other AAI airports -Kolkata and Ahmedabad were exempted from getting their hand baggage stamped.  Airports Authority of India is planning to extend this practice to its other airports to enhance passenger experience and ensure a hassle free security check. For further strengthening of security system at airports, HD CCTV Cameras and other necessary infrastructure will be in place.
