India was the country of focus this time at the World Future Energy Summit, concluded last evening in Abu Dhabi. India specific sessions titled ‘India’s Renewable Energy Ambition’, ‘India: Solar and Wind project overview’ and ‘Financing India’s Renewable Energy Strategy’ were organized on Day 2 of the summit. While moderating the session on Solar and Wind Project overview, Mr. Upendra Tripathy, Former Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt. of India said, “India is on course to achieve its targets and addressing challenges is a dynamic process”.

Mr. Shekhar Dutt, Director General, Solar Power Developers Association said, “India’s Solar Story is not only doable but also very much desirable”. Three FICCI business delegation members also participated in these panels. While speaking in the project overview session, Mr. Sanjeev Aggarwal, Managing Director, Amplus Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd highlighted that the distributed energy sector works on market forces and there is a lot of interest from Indian railways and Government establishments for rooftop solar. Mr. Kishor Nair,COO, Welspun Energy Ltd., mentioned that storage is going to play a key role in the future energy sustainablity for India. Mr. Kolluru Krishan, Co-chair FICCI Climate Change Task Force and Chairman CVC India infrastructure while speaking in the financing session mentioned that the distributed energy architecture is a must to keep the 2℃ climate target and energy access is one of the biggest market drivers.
