SJVN participated in the recently concluded CSR Fair 2017 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi which was organized under the aegis of Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises; PHD Chamber in collaboration with ONGC. The Fair aimed at providing a platform to all stakeholders to showcase their CSR activities, sharing of their best practices and also an opportunity to connect with other stakeholders.

SJVN’s stall was inaugurated by Ms. Seema Bahuguna, Secretary, DPE, GOI. The stall was also graced by the presence of Sh. Babul Supriyo, Hon’ble Minister of State, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, GOI who applauded the various CSR initiatives undertaken by SJVN.

During his visit to the stall CMD, SJVN Sh. R N Misra told that the CSR and Sustainability Policy of SJVN has been evolved on the basis of CSR and sustainability guidelines issued from time to time by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, GOI, and statutory enactments like the companies Act, 2013.

SJVN is committed to the concerns of its stakeholders and strives to maintain good standards of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability in its business activities. CSR initiatives have been broadly classified into six verticals namely education & skill development, infrastructure & community asset development, health care & welfare, promotion & preservation of Culture/ Melas, sports etc., sustainable development, assistance during natural disasters. This helps SJVN to channelize its energy and resources into the direction wherein SJVN Corporate Social Responsibility matches with the national issues of importance.

Sh. Misra further added that SJVN respects the rule of the law, local communities and societies at large and makes conscious efforts to enhance the quality of life and environmental sustainability through its CSR and sustainability programmes.

The stall was also visited by dignitaries such as Sh. Madhukar Gupta, Addl. Secretary DPE and Sh. Pullela Gopichand, Chief National Coach for Indian Badminton Team and former Badminton Champion, Chairman and Managing Director ALIMCO, Chairman and Managing Director RITES and Chairman and CEO Greentech Foundation. SJVN Corporate CSR also participated in a thematic workshop on “Scope & Opportunity for Health Initiatives in the CSR Space”.
