SJVN Foundation signs MoU with ALIMCO for providing Aids & Assistive Devices to Persons with Disabilities

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed between SJVN Foundation and ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India) for providing Aids & Assistive Devices to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). As per MoU ALIMCO will be conducting 4 (four) camps for distribution of artificial limbs, aids and assistive devices such as Tricycles, wheel chairs, hearing aids, Crutches, smart canes, Braille Kits, artificial limbs etc. in the areas where projects of SJVN are situated. Cost of one camp catering about 250 to 300 persons is estimated around 25 to 30 lakhs. So on account of this MoU SJVN will be spending around Rs. 1 crore for the needs of Persons with Disabilities.

ALIMCO is a Mini Ratna Public Sector Enterprise, which is not for profit manufacturing organization. It is the only Manufacturing Corporation working under the Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. It has been working since last 40 years for the manufacturing and distribution of various types of cost effective ISI marked aids and assistive devices on mass scale.

SJVN is carrying out a number of CSR initiatives in the area of health, education, skill development, infrastructural development, community development etc. SJVN has undertaken initiatives for the help of patients of Muscular Dystrophy for which SJVN is assisting Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy in construction of Integrated Muscular Dystrophy Institute at Solan. SJVN in association with HelpAge India under the umbrella of Satluj Sanjivani Sewa is providing free health care to the local communities around the project areas in the state of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Maharashtra through 12 mobile medical units.

The CSR initiatives undertaken by SJVN demonstrate long term sustainability and reflect continued commitment of SJVN. The CSR programs are implemented in a manner that it ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and international norms.
