The Ministry of Mines organized the first National Conclave on Mines & Minerals on 4-5 July 2016 at Raipur jointly with the Govt. of Chhattisgarh. It was an astounding success, owing to overwhelming support of all stakeholders of the mining industry. All the participants expressed great satisfaction on the organization and outcome of the conclave.

After the first Conclave, several new initiatives have been taken by the Ministry of Mines, such as – launch of Star Rating Scheme, Mining Surveillance System, scheme to attract private explorers, etc. The implementation of these initiatives requires harmonization of understanding of the regulatory bodies and the mining industry. This called for intensive and wide interaction between all stakeholders.

The Prime Minister had launched ‘Make in India’ program encompassing all vital areas in the manufacturing sector of the economy. The mining sector has a pivotal role to play in the ‘Make in India’ vision of the Prime Minister. With the anticipated growth of the Indian economy in the years to come, there will be a renewed thrust in infrastructure and manufacturing sectors, which would only be possible by way of ensuring timely supply of minerals, which form their basic raw materials.

The great success, and immense utility of 1st National Mining Conclave on Mines & Minerals to gather solidarity in approach for addressing the issues in the mining sector, the Ministry of Mines is organising 2ndNational Mining Conclave on Mines & Minerals in New Delhi in Convention Hall, Hotel The Ashok, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi  on 15th February, 2017. The 2nd Conclave will provide an effective platform to enable intensive discussion among various stakeholders viz. the representatives of central ministries, state governments, mining industries, industry associations, financial & academic institutions and others, on the issues, challenges and opportunities in the mining sector.

The participation of industry leaders will greatly enhance the success and effectiveness of the conclave. It will help the Central Government to further improve the policy environment to promote best practices and addressing various issues in the mining sector.

A National Conclave on Mines and Minerals in the country appears to be essential at this time, not only to disseminate the various developments in the mining policies and activities, but also to gather solidarity in approach for addressing the issues in the mining sector.

The conclave will have four technical sessions for interaction on the following key topics-

The awards for ‘5 Star’ rating and ‘Swachhta’ to the best performing mines will also be given during the conclave. A provisional program schedule of the conclave, detailing the various sessions, is enclosed. Your valuable suggestions on the same would be extremely helpful in making the agenda more effective and fruitful. Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI) has agreed to partner for organizing the workshop.

No registration fees has been kept for the delegates attending the conclave. The conclave may have select participants invited to share policies, ideas, experiences, successes, lessons and to discuss possible alternatives –

For facilitating the participants for attending the conclave, accommodations have been blocked at the venue and nearby hotels for the delegates and a facilitation counters is being provided at the airport and the railway station. The registration and handing over of folder and badges would be done at the venue itself from 9.00 AM onwards on 15th of February 2017.
