The Supreme Court Of India in an order today has directed the central government to deport illegal Bangladeshi from India and seal the border to stop their influx.

The Court had earlier asked the government to prepare a status report on the progress in fencing the international border with Bangladesh. According to sources, a bench of Justices Ranjan Gogoi and R F Nariman examined the status report and said that the Madhukar Gupta committee would supervise it. Madhukar Gupta committee was set up after the Pathankot airbase attack to suggest ways to strengthen vigil and security on the border.

Tomorrow, the Expenditure and Finance Committee will take a call on Assam State government request of grant of about Rs 3 crore for ramping up border infrastructure in the state.

Earlier, the apex court had ordered “to detect and deport all illegal migrants who have come to Assam after March 25, 1971″ and hold discussions with the Bangladesh government to ensure that illegal migrants are sent back,  impressing on the government that it wants this work of border fencing to be done quickly as the integrity and sovereignty of the nation was at stake, passing a string of directions on December 17, 2014, including an order to the government to complete fencing work along India-Bangladesh border within three months to check illegal cross-border influx of Bangladesh nationals into Assam and streamline the process to deport them back.

What would be interesting to see in Assam and West Bengal is how the administration traces the same because a major chunk of them have a legal Voter card or Aadhar Card and hopefully we also get to see the same in rest of the parts in India.
