For efficient use of water, Railway is setting up Water Recycling Plants at such locations where water is scarce and provision of the same is economically justified. The recycled water is mainly used for maintenance of Wagons/Coaches and cleaning of Railway Stations. So far, 37 numbers of Water Recycling Plants have been set up in different locations and works have been sanctioned for setting up of Water Recycling Plants at 37 more locations costing about Rs. 48 Crore. The work of installation of Rain Water Harvesting System is a part of maintenance and construction activities of Railway buildings. As such, no separate fund is sanctioned for it.
