Ms R Malar Vizhi IPS (Bihar 1995) presently Deputy Director, National Police Academy, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has been appointed as IG, BSF, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Ms R Malar Vizhi is M.Sc., (Zoology), from Madurai Kamraj University. As ASP she has served as SDPO, Patna Town in Patna District. On promotion as Superintendent of Police she headed Sitamarhi, Banka, Kishanganj, Sheikhpura and Lakhi Sarai where anti-crime and anti-naxal operations were the priority. She has also held charge of SP (CID) and SP (Special Branch). She was posted as the first woman SSP of Gaya and SSP of Patna. As Commandant, she headed Bihar Military Police – 3 and Bihar Military Police – 9. She Served as SP Rail in Katihar and Jamui. On promotion as DIG in 2010 she was posted as Deputy Commandant General Home Guard and she was the first lady officer to be posted as DIG of Saran Range. She is decorated with Presidents’ Medal for Meritorious Service. She won Best Police Officers’ Award from Bihar Chief Minister consecutively for two times. She joined the Academy in May 2013.
