PM felicitate Divyangjans at Vadodara Samajik Adhikarita Camp

Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities [Divyangjan], Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is organizing one of the biggest Samajik Adhikarita camps at Vadodara, Gujarat tomorrow, where Aids and Assistive Devices will be distributed under ADIP scheme to Divyangjans in the august presence of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Governor of Gujarat Shri O.P. Kohli, the Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Vijay Rupani, the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, the Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, the Speaker of Gujarat State Assembly Shri Ramanlal Vora, the Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Ramdas Athwale, Shri Krishna Pal Gurjar, Shri Vijay Sampla, the Minister of Gujarat for Social Justice and Empowerment , Women and Child Development Shri Atmaram Parmar, the Member of Parliament Smt. Ranjanben Bhatt and Shri Ransinh Rathwa and other state dignitaries will also grace the occasion.

In the 169th Mega ADIP Camp more than Ten Thousand Pre-Identified Divyangjan beneficiaries will be benefitted with contemporary Aids and Assistive devices by ALIMCO, E-Card of Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme of National Trust and Loan and Skill Training certificates by NHFDC. The Aids and Assistive devices and other facilities amounting approx Rs. 9.26 Crore will be distributed in this camp. High-end-devices aimed at imparting education, training and information technology awareness will be provided to needy Divyangjans.

The camp will be held under the ADIP Scheme of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, which is in force since 1981 and further has been revised and adopted from 01st April 2014. The main objective of the scheme is to provide latest and modern aids manufactured by various agencies such as National Institutes, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India [ALIMCO], District Disability Rehabilitation Centres, State Handicapped Development Corporations, other local bodies and NGOs. These aids are being given to the Divyangjans to promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation.

In the camp 300 beneficiaries of the National Trust will be felicitated mostly with Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme in which insurance of Rs. 1.0 lakh is given for the welfare of Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. Besides, Disha and Vikaas Day Care Centres beneficiaries will also be present. Disha is a day care Cenre for early intervention and school readiness for children upto the age of 10 years. Vikaas is an inter-personal skill development above 10 years of age and adults. The National Trust schemes improves the quality of life of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities.

Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation [ALIMCO], a Government of India Central Public Sector Undertaking, working under the department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities [Divyangjan]. ALIMCO has conducted need assessment camps of divyangjan residing in Vadodara district with the focus to cover maximum population of divyangjan specially from distant rural areas. The assessments have been conducted with the help of District Administration, Vadodara and Chota Udaipur in four phases; Phase –I from 11th March, 2015 to 27th March, 2015 and Phase-II from 19th August, 2015 to 28th August, 2015 and Phase-III from 20th September, 2016 to 30th September, 2016 and Phase –IV from 4th Oct, 2016 to 6th Oct, 2016 and 15th -16th Oct, 2016.

During the event the beneficiaries will be given certificates of training and loans by NHFDC. Laptops will also be provided to Divyangjans by NIPID located at Secunderabad. Below- mentioned aids and assistive devices will be distributed by ALIMCO and other National Institutes of the Department:

50 Motorized Tricycles, 2305 Tricycle, 1185 Wheelchairs, 2064 Crutches, 1141 Walking Stick, 275 Braille Cane, 1448 TLM Kit, 65 Cerebral Palsy chair, 109 Braille Slate, 258 Braille Kit, 180 Rolletor (Adult and Child), 228 ADL Kit Leprosy, 394 Samrtphone, 147 Daisy Player for Visual Impaired people, 2461 Hearing Aid – BTE Digital Programme, 1976 Artificial Limbs and Orthotics.

In the august presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister 3 Guinness World Records were created successfully in the mega ADIP Camp held at Navsari, Gujarat on 17th September 2016. The Certificates for these three Guinness World Records created will presented to the Prime Minister by the team of Guinness Book of World Records during the event at Vadodara camp on 22nd October 2016.
