Officiating DG NCC visits Special National Integration Camp, Srinagar

Officiating Director General NCC Major General J S Sandhu, paid a two-day visit to Srinagar on June 01, 2016 to oversee various NCC activities in the state of J&K, especially in the Kashmir region. The General Officer has special affiliation with J&K and is very keen to raise more NCC units in the Kashmir valley particularly an Air Wing in Srinagar and an NCC Battalion at Kupwara which would provide new openings to the youth of the Valley.

On May 02, 2016 the General Officer visited the Special National Integration Camp being conducted by NCC Directorate J&K at JAK LI Regimental Center, Rangreth. It is being participated by 400 NCC Cadets and Associate NCC Officers representing all states and union territories.

The General Officer was presented a Guard of Honour by the smartly turned out NCC Cadets comprising young boys and girls. Later the General officer witnessed a magnificent and a vibrant cultural programme of folk dances and group songs by the NCC cadets of J&K based on the rich cultural heritage of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladhak region.

The General Officer while addressing the Cadets exhorted the importance of organising such camp in Srinagar which has provided an opportunity for the cadets of different states and union territories to see and experience first-hand, the mystique of the serene and beautiful valley of Kashmir and also its cheerful, friendly and extremely hospitable people. Such camps foster national integration, solidarity and pride amongst the youth of our vast and diverse nation. He further complimented the cadets who have got this opportunity to come to Srinagar and interact with the youth of the state who are as talented in academics, aesthetics, creative art and in all their human endeavours as their counterparts elsewhere in India. He was happy to note that all the cadets remained physically fit and actively participated in all the activities organised during the camp. The General Officer congratulated Maj Gen S S Jakhar, Additional Director General, NCC J&K and other NCC Officers and staff for organising this camp. He also congratulated the girls cadets of NCC who scaled the Mount Everest last month.
