International Women’s Day- 2017 was celebrated by Neyveli Chapter of WIPS at NLC IL with the UN theme for this year ‘Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030 “ on 08-08-2017 at Yegneswaran Auditorium, Learning &Development Centre, Neyveli.
Dr. Sarat KumarAcharya, CMD, NLC IL the chief guest, in his address insisted on various important roles played by women, which are vital to the fabric of our society and our economy. He emphasized on how women are playing major role in propelling the socio-economic growth of the country. He said Women are transforming themselves and bringing powerful transition in our society and becoming power centers for the human progress. He congratulated NLCIL women employees for their role in winning ‘Best Enterprise Award’ for the year 2016.
Dr. Rachana Singh, Supdt. of Police, (North),Puduchhery ,the Guest of Honor in her address said that Women are comparatively better than Men in multi tasking and they are very good in management.
She urged women folk to raise their voice against Physical abuse, gender-based discrimination, violence, Cyber crime and Social in justice. She insisted all educated women to raise their voice for the voiceless to prevent and to end violence against girls and women.
She stated that, parents should start teaching their boys to respect girls for promoting respectful relationships and gender equality rather than tabooing girls from coming out.
