NLC inaugurates 19th Neyveli Book Fair

To fascinate the book reading enthusiasts, pupil, families and visitors, the most expected Neyveli Book Fair -2016, was inaugurated by  Shri Manoj Parida, I.A.S, Chief Secretary,  Govt. of Puducherry in the Presence of Shri S.K Shahi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of coal, GOI., and  Shri. Sarat Kumar Acharya,  CMD, NLC at Book Fair Grounds, Neyveli, On 01-07-2016.

Neyveli Lignite Corporation, a Navratna Public Sector, to promote culture of reading amongst school children and public to make them access important Books, is organizing Book Fair for the 19th year in succession. The 10 day Neyveli book fair accommodates around 150 renowned publishers and attracts about 3.00 Lakh Visitors from all walks of life. The book fair is held for 10 days from 01.07.2016 to 10.07.2016.

The Chief Guest of the inaugural function Shri Manoj Parida, I.A.S., Chief Secretary, Puducherry visited the fair along with the Guest of Honour, Shri Santhosh Kumar Shahi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of coal, Govt. of India, Shri. Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD, and Functional Directors of NLC.

In the Inaugural function presided by Shri. Sarat Kumar Acharya, the Shri Manoj Parida,  and Shri S.K. Shahi , formally inaugurated the fair by lighting the traditional light in the presence of Smt. S K. Shahi and patrons of  Neyveli Ladies Club at Lignite Hall, Neyveli.

In his presidential address, Shri S.K Acharya said that, apart from regular activities, NLC every year organizes grand book fair under its CSR activities to disseminate knowledge to masses, rural areas and to the people from all walks of life like. He said, apart from, NLC also recognizes contributions made by Book Publishers and Book writers and honour them through this Book Fair.

Shri Acharya while, insisting on the importance of Books he said, that, Books are representatives of Civilizations, which enrich individuals-the knowledge, activity and improves insights  to understand the world.

Shri Manoj Parida, in his Chief Guest address, expressed happiness and praised the events, by seeing the Crowd of book lovers’ enthusiastic participation in Book Fair and hub of books related to a mixture of fields and number of publishers. He praised the NLC management for their enormous efforts for organizing this event in big way to reach masses of the rural area. He said books are the one which take you to many places and make understand of it , besides, lasting impression on one’s life.

Shri S.K Shahi, said that, Neyveli Book Fair is not less than any Book Fairs organized in India. He appreciated NLC management for CSR initiatives and for their efforts in conducting the Book-Fair successfully.

On this occasion, the Chief Guest Shri Manoj Parida, released a book “Barricades are Step stones” written in Tamil by Prof. N. Palani, Salem, who was chosen as the best writer and awarded. The first copy was received by Shri S.K. Shahi and Mr. S.K. Acharya. On this occasion, M/s. Bharathi Pathippagam, Chennai was honoured, as the best publisher.

 On this Occasion, the Book Sellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI) has honoured Shri Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD with an award BAPSi-2016 and  with citation titled “The Change Agent in Knowledge Creation”.

Functional Directors of NLC, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Shri Subir Das, Shri V.Thangapandian, and Shri P. Selvakumar graced the occasion along with their family members.

Staging Colors of India by Smt. Anna Varghese from Abinaya Natyalaya, Neyveli   was very much cherished by the spectators.

Earlier, Shri S. Sridhar, CGM/PR, EDN.& CSR  and Secretary of  Neyveli Book Fair 2016 welcomed the gathering and Shri Chandrasekhar, Treasurer of NBF-2016, delivered the Vote of Thanks.
